Connection speed and pc

is there anyone who can tell me how fast internet connection do i have to have to run HB server without lagging

etc. nr of players ------ con speed

and what about the computer --- stats would be creat.

i am sure that there are many who have the same questions, so it fould be great if someone who actually have theys own server, ansver these questions

for COnnection anything Above Cable should be fine (only reason i dont suggest DSL is cause people in the passt had trouble hosting with DSL, i think its because it hasa built in router which u cant configure, also a built in firewall)

so i suggest cable+ (Cable or higher) for ur connection, for ur COmputer stats, i would suggest anything above a 1 GHZ, this is my opinion.

For your Ram, depends how much maps ur hosting(This also goes for ur connection, more maps, the more lag online), if ur hosting (or trying to host) every map, then u will need probably about 1 GB Ram to run it good, some people use 512 MB Ram.

some people say u never can have enough ram to host every map, i can disagree with that, but i find its a bit slow. if ur doing like some Servers, and only have a few maps open, (example: Towns, Farm, ML, also like when all the NPC are in one shop, meaning theres only one shop enabled) then u can have around 256-512 MB Ram, anything lower then that u probably would have problems.

u also have to take into factor for how much people go online, if theres like 200+ u would want like a T1 line to run it good

if there is -1Mbit download
and 512Kbit upload

would it be enought - can you tell me please, what kind of a server could i use behind this connection

well that should be good enough, i hate a 4 mb connection, and i go at speeds from 200kb/s - 500kb/s so if u go even higher then thatf or ur actuall download speeds u should be good, even if ur a bit lower it should be fine. depends what ur on Cable, or DSL, DSL alot of people had troubles configuring so people can connect

i recommend cable and adsl or higher..

yah but only reason i dont say adsl is cause alot of people cant host Maps with it, i heard sdsl can with no problems tho..

dont host all from 1 house, and dsl has slow upload

yah Dark, but i wont comment on tha lag ur server had sometimes

and how it whent down every night and came back up like at 7:30 pm my time, like 4:30 pm ur time
