how to host on dedi server

can some 1 help me out i got a dedi server to host but for some reason it wont up the server can some 1 help me out wit this thx

At home or at a data centre..? as in are you behind a router..or piggy backin from another com..?Data centreshould be set up.. either way first thing chg cfg's..then router..prolly a firewall or something..basic stuff Evil..

we are running from data center with no firewalls what so ever, when applications request ports it auto opens. everything works fine until loading the hg and it hangs on port 2500 not opening. all other ports open fine, just 2500 that won't work. thats is runnin windows server 2003

I've hosted HB on multiple 2k3 servers at data centers and on my 2nd comp. It works fine and doesn't need any extra configuration.

OK thanks for that insight bone. Im glad to hear it can be done without much hassle. I wonder why our hg doesn't work then. We changed all the ips over in the configs to just our external (internal does not exist). Would it help you if I posted the configs?

What exactly is the error? Does everything connect properly? HGs to logs and logs to logs?

Everything shows connected/listening/socket confirmed etc. When it comes to the gate,log,world.

The HG it self shows no errors, it hangs at this point (see image below):

Yea, thanks. I agree with Evilhit "...". Can't help you if you're going to hide some of the more important stuff. Not like it gives a shit anyway.. netstat while playing will reveal it. Report it with ips and shit and I can help.

Also, use real files.. not these edited bs files that have altered guis. Chances are they were coded by some nub who fucked up something internal.

oh and also, USE PORT 2501. You do realize 2501 is the real default world port. I changed it to 2500 long ago and like the HG "standard" of 9900 or whatever it is, it held fast. I was only swapping up ports then :[ didn't mean for it to be the "norm".. but use port 2501.

update:

After changing all the ips in the gserver to 127. I got port 2501 to finally be opened but now the HG just sits at: Gate-Socket-Connection Counting....

I check all the ports and they show open now. <_<

I don't get why you continue to hide ips. It's not like it REALLY makes a difference..

game-server-address = 127.0.0.1

that's one problem. It has to be your external ip and leave it on internet mode.

As far as not connecting goes, you use these weird custom files. It might be a coding error. As far as configs go they look correct. Try it with normal files (normal being like old 2.20 files) and see if that works. If it does, it's your files. If they don't work, it's the server or something.
