getting DDOSed

ik just a noob and i mean DDoS not DoS
ddos is distributed denial of service
dos is denial of service

so.. teach me how im a noob... i wanna stop this ddos gay :/

Isn't DDoSing just sending mass packets? I have a router and people can't ping me, most of the time. I've had a few ppl try and DDoS me such as NOL, I had Dax DDoS me. And I got nothing. I have 2 FW's. Talk to Jensen about this, he's helped me alot.

routaer with built in firewalls, and disabled dmz. do not ever do NAT on a router. you need also a second firewall, software. McAfee is good. you can get the ip of the ddoser and block him off your router. routers are excellent for protection if you have it set up right.

DDos = distributed denial of service
which is packets sent to make your service stop this can be done many ways.
Bots are the most things used to do this you send a command to the bot and it starts it attack.
Bots are made of people useing exploits to get axx to someone elses computer and then they join somewhere that the users of the bots has axx to put the commands into the bots to start the attack.

there are many forms of attack which can be sent to the person you dont want to have service.

now ways to stop this.

you can get a server that has DDos protection this is the best way to stop it but the servers cost money. if you look up google there are datacenters around that have this as one of there services.

try and get a good firewall that can stop some of it but some will still get thought which will lag your server a little but not drop it.

some software are meant to be able to stop an attack but i never find any thats really good.

if the person that is doing the attack knows what they are doing you would not be able to stop it with the last 2 things i said. the 1st one is the best one but always remember that even if you get a server with ddos protection the protection can only hold the attack to what the protection is set to.

and if the person thats doing the DDos wants to really take you out all he would need is more bots or what ever is doing the attack with.

Best way for you:

Buy a router the new Netgear router got some nice Anti-Dos/DDos tools, but it may slow down you internet but you mostly safe than against all generel Dos attacks..

The new Router by Netgear is a good choice, FireStorm is right it does have some. I'm a Tech in Training at my School. (Its a class), and I chose to use Netgeart N Routers at school over a G Router. I'm making all routers wireless. I'm not sure if this'll help or not, but Try it, the N Routers are about 150$ in some areas, Mine was 75$ I might be able to get one for you.

I'm getting like 20$ a month. You guys are dealing with this money here for a crappy HB server.. Go buy clothes or chocolate boy.. Uninstall helbreath instead of wasting all your money.

liran go home spic with your noob server. 200/250 how noobish same like Chaos 310/500... i dont like so high lvl servers anymore u never plaid a server with weeks leveling for lvl 50 and then u can be barrack raider and some shit like this it was so funny. thats helbreath. Look at a original server they have skills which makes fun (manufacturing, alchemy, Crafting) Stones r really rare, low gold drop. THAT OWNS. 310/500 bah. 200/250 bit better but BAH 2 hours ma xlvl WHERES THE FUN?
