God, look it's easy. Get into your router's firmware setup, which probably entails opening a web browser and going to http://192.168.0.1 and then find port forwarding/application routing. it'll be called something along those lines. now find your computer's LAN/WAN IP, which most likely will be 192.168.0.100 or 101 or 102, etc... It's easy to find, just open a command prompt and type ipconfig. The ip it shows is your lan/wan ip.

Now that you got that, you make entries in your router's port forwarding for every port the hb server uses, and make sure it points to your lan/wan ip.

There's no way it won't work if it's a dynamic dhcp setup. static dhcp maybe need to set some ranges, but I doubt it.

I`ve forwarded all the ports that GateServer, MainLog Server and WoldLog server are useing... and people from outside can connect and login on their acc. But ,when I forwarded the port used by GameServer and lunched it, nobody can log on their characters.
(Game Server have loaded beginer zone and all characters are on this map)

Code: Select all

game-server-name = elvine
game-server-port = 3004
game-server-address = 10.0.0.1
game-server-internal-address = 10.0.0.1
game-server-external-address = xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
game-server-mode = internet
when i use this settings i can log from machines in LAN
(xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is an external IP) when i change from internet to LAN then i cannot log from LAN.

Does anyone have any idea what`s wrong ?

whats happerning is were ur falwarding ur external router ports to ur local ip address it works ok for the login server, but when it comes to actualy connecting to the hg server the wl is sends the wrong ip to the clients, instead of sending ur external ip address to them its sending them ur local ip address that you used to connect ur hgs up, so to get this working correctley you eill have to localy route your local ip address out to ur wan ip so it can then connect to the wl server on ur external ip address instead of ur local ip address,

ok if u dont understand that, then ill try to dumb it down
say ur setup is

Comp1 Comp2 Comp3
---|---------|----------|----
------------------------------
|
Router
|
internet

this is probably what most people with home routers setup is like

ok well say ur hosting ur HB server on Comp 1 and the local ip is 192.168.0.10

so u host all Gate, ML, WL and HGs on this ip address

now from ur routers frimware u falward all ports that corrospond to the ones used by the server 2501, 2848, etc......

now when someone trys to login they get sent to port 2848 witch is hosted on lan but as you have open up the 2848 port it directs all data directley to to it, so they lgoni and when they try to connect to a HG, instead of the request for this going via directley to the (external ip):(port) it is asking the WL server were to be directed,
and as you have had to setup the server using your lan ip, it will try to direct your clients to your local ip 192.168.0.10 as this is the address they connected on to the WL server
so if u wanted to host on lan you will have to eather know how to route
or have a nice router that allowes internal clicent to have a physical link to your external ip address,
but wait, if u dont have this it is possible to use them DNS option in your GSserver.cfg so u sign up a DNS name to your external ip address, put the DNS name in the gsserver.cfg and when the HG tryes to connect to the WL server, it will bounce out to ur DNS host then be redirect back in so therefore hosting on ur external ip address, (In theory) i havent tryed this method before ;)

this seems alot easer to read, and i was writeing that last post at 2 am so i was a little tired
