This reply is meant for GB:

Yes, zabuza cracked the md5 as well. But the general public hasn't. Although it's just a matter of time.

A lot of the people here think too small. But the one thing you forget about is that there is no future in coding for hb or improving hb. With open source no money is involved and people don't create anything because personal pride and the desire to show off do not in themselves keep a project alive. You need funding. You need the ability to reach beyond the immediate pool of talent. And then there is the bickering and whining from everywhere...ultimately it is all more trouble than it is worth.

I don't like the fact that the source is out. Knowing how hard I worked to get each one of my files, I find it distasteful that suddenly everyone can have a version of client source. It's kind of like duping in HB. I duped but never taught to dupe. If just I had a duped item, or if i gave one to a friend that was nice. When ALL the players had medusas, xelimas, gold sets, etc, it was no longer worth anything, it was just LAME. It took away from the fun from everyone because to most people the first time they actually got something like a meriens shield was when everyone else had them too. It no longer offered anyone an edge and was as valuable as a blacksmith tower.

I told you that Blind craked MD5 because I supose he told you, but he is not the only one who did ^^, and maybe MD5 stuff is released too and then voila, but thats not a important things afterall.

I didn't mean open source new games/imrpoved games, I mean new proyects, private based on this "free/public" code.

BTW, I got error unzipping the file, (I d/led like 10 times) seems to be incomplete

GB, when you say new projects, you mean like HBx did and code it up as far as you can go right? There's one problem with that.. It will get old after a while. Already look, there are practically no resource sites anymore. HB has slowly lost it's user base and is further dwindling. Coders and smart people of HB are slowly leaving, or have stopped caring about HB. I wouldn't be surprised if things went back to 2.20 because of the lack of support for these "3.51" files and their buggy nature. Although this is now the basis of grounds to start new projects, I'm not too sure myself this can get very far. You have your extasis dev and HBx is going to try at it again, but whoelse is there? (this is just a simple post, nothing against you or anyone, just trying to have a normal conversation because I seriously would like to know where HB will go and how it will get there)

GB,
please stop editing/deleting bone-you's posts, it damages the flow of conversation and leaves me responding to stuff that isn't there anymore.

As for your point of "I mean new proyects, private based on this "free/public" code", I present to you that it is illogical to expect to accomplish this by releasing the code publicly. Those who know what to do with the code know who to ask (and not to ask) for it. It is not logical to extrapolate from publicly released source code.

But then again, I have no motivation to debate this issue, as the harm done to hb will likely indirectly benefit my personal project. My project doesn't use hb source code, thankfully, because thinking ahead has always proved to be the logical approach. I merely wrote down the functions and classes on paper and made an outline diagram to represent them. Then, I recoded each one. Therefore my code is 100% new.

Live long and prosper,

MOG

Works fine for me, but then again I'm not using the ones bigchief released, but it's all the same source, so it all should work the same unless somewhere along the line it was messed with?

There is quite an endearing project on way at the moment. The project name is Helbreath 2, and it looks quite impressive.
