Possible yes. Practical, no. GIFs are compressed and the quality takes a hit. You'd be better off just leaving them as bitmap pak files and playing them like that. Same thing really. The hb pak file is like a gif in different format xD just a bunch of frames to make an animated shot. I don't think dx7 has native gif support but dx9 does (i think)

DX7 only natively supports BMP files, but its really easy to code in support for any image type.bone-you wrote: Possible yes. Practical, no. GIFs are compressed and the quality takes a hit. Well, I want to use GIF, files, because they have less size than the bitmap pak files. It's like 10kb for GIF, and 1.5mb for pak files. I know that I will need to rewrite all the helbreath system for using GIF, but if it is neccessary I will rewrite it all. I only need a good player source and a "how to use it" little guide. I'm just starting on c++, so I don't know well how to insert a gif player.
If you're trying to replace all paks with gifs it would be difficult since every draw function and the entire sprite class is based on raw bitmaps. If you're just trying to add a gif displayer, just go grab some code somewhere that works with dx7.

I lolled at the ponies xDvgvgf wrote:i want a pony please =(What colour do you want?Could you also code me a Ferrari please, I want one
Seriously, it's so difficult to put a simple GIF player in a hb c++ client? I only need the Gif player, not the replacement of pak sprites from hb. I will make it.
NOW THAT WOULD BE A COOL BOSSMOB EVEN STRONGER THAN ABADDON
Cheers Tester

I have thought on that, and I think that if the gif can be "translated" to raw bitmaps. Like creating a blank raw bitmap and setting the colors pixel by pixel based on the gif file. For that I need a gif decoder, but I don't know how to add it to hb. Maybe I can do all that, but I need to have a working gif decoder. Or gif displayer and I will manage me to replace the pak Sprites class to new gif Sprites class. If you're trying to replace all paks with gifs it would be difficult since every draw function and the entire sprite class is based on raw bitmaps. If you're just trying to add a gif displayer, just go grab some code somewhere that works with dx7.
That is doing a lot of processing for something that would be a complete waste of time.vgvgf wrote:I have thought on that, and I think that if the gif can be "translated" to raw bitmaps.
