k for those who want to add the extra feature of checking whether ur friend is online or not, maybe you could do it the way i thought of.

when u click a friend's name, send a msg to server, which calls for the /fi command. thats all. its like doing a /fi with mouse click, and you will know whether player is on or off. i havent gota round to test this, but pls feedback.

Or the server could always keep you updated without having to request it.

No. One way is to send a request every few xx (seconds, minutes, whatever) requesting a full update on your friends list, or you could do it the smart way of every time someone gets online/offline it's checked if anyone has them on their friends list and sends the update accordingly.

If you want to add online/offline and storing it in server then you should code your own version.... :blink:

wouldnt you be better off requesting online/offline status of the players on your friends list when u open it,

that way the HG is only sending the data that is necessary when anyone actually uses it, rarther than all the time.

It would have lag. The point is to have constantly updated list that way when your friends list is closed it can still tell you "so and so went offline" "so and so has come online" like mine does. >.> Having it updated only when you open it can pose a few problems. It takes a few seconds to update, you have to add more code to the hg to send/receive update status, and if your server has a lot of people on it they could all open their flist over and over to lag your server >.>
