all i can say is none of you people have actually coded a game as big as the hb client/server/and whatever else they made all you do is edit their code and think your god because you made the client run marginaly quick (0.00000000000001%) give me a break you couldnt organise a root in a brothel with a fist full of fiftys.

as you can see charlie is in a bad mood ill be going through the forum spreading my love.

Lol. I bet someone from USA actually comes here, and looks to see what the hell Unadvised is doing. I think it'd be hilarious if USA started using sources from unadvised, I'd probably die of laughing... btw, Good job Orkl.

Charlie: I bet you if enough coders got together, and mapped a game out, they could build it. I'm positive that they could...

Orkl. Your attempt at a particle engine got me interested in it too

I made a shabby attempt at one in opengl.

When I got it working, my first thought was whether I could create a fire effect from it. xD 1,2,3 are made with around 1000-10000 particles. The last (and fairly laggy but just for looks) has 100000 particles.

Trying to setup a meteor strike spell in the app with particles in place of everything else xD opengl is a bitch when it comes to blending :[

I made a fucking cool looking effect before... Basically the particles came out a blue-teal colour, hit the ground and then radiated back up turning to a light yellow colour.. looked so awesome.. Didn't screenshot it because it wouldn't have justified its awesomeness.. haha

I had to make it windowed because on my computer, fullscreen opengl usually fucks up my graphics.. most games do actually. gay ass x64 windows. oh well. So I just made it windowed. It's not as cool windowed but it still works.

Controls are:

Up/Down arrows control the speed the particles travel making the fire effect effectively taller or shorter.
Left/right arrows control the width.

Up/Down/Left/Right on the numpad (with numlock on) control the gravity which allows you to create generic wind (left/right) or gravity (up/down)

It's set at 10000 particles which is way more than it would have if implemented anywhere. A lot of these effects firing at once with 10000 would create quite some lag. Ultimately the same effect could be generated with around 1000 and still look pretty much the same.

Orkl. We need to get together and swap ideas. I would definately help stick a better particle gen inside HB. (the current one for rain/snow is rather lame.. too basic and limited).

^^ rainbow particle which is the basis of the system.

I set one up to also create a spark like effect.. when you click yellow particles dart out making it look like sparks. It's rather crude but kinda cool ^^

What 3d application? And dur it's weak. All it is is a bunch of particles floating up. It has no real physics or anything. It's only a demo.
