The stupid douche bag put a keycoder on his maphack so that you have to pay him 15 bucks to use it. I am trying to work on a way around it... but it isn't going very well. If anyone wants to help me out a lil and try and crack it, i would be very grateful.

This is a proof of concept that Mousepad's Maphack can be cracked, some ways easier than others. This was not done to rob Mousepad of money but to take up on Mousepad's challenge to come up with a crack for it. The crack only works for v6.1c. If you use the crack to try out maphack, don't hesitate to donate money for it if you feel the urge. This crack might not work for all machines but someone else can reverse it and come out with one that handles more (see below for reason why). Mousepad will probably update his security checks after this and I have no intention of updating the crack.

You can get it at

Crack With Working MH 6.1c : <a href='http://home.wideopenwest.com/~techmgr/H ... ck_61c.rar' target='_blank'>http://home.wideopenwest.com/~techmgr/H ... 61c.rar</a>

You need this file for the crack to work.....

---

When cracking stuff, you need to take a look around and see what the weak points are. The weak point in Maphack is it relied on a CD key check. Knowing this and that it is encrypted, one should get a hold of a CD key/key file pair to even attempt to make a crack for it. One attack that can be used is the middleman attack. The easiest one for this is to intercept Maphack's CD key retrieval routine and fed it the fake CD key (associated with the key file). This took less than an hour to do in various ways after getting a hold of the key pair.

The crack being released is a slightly harder approach to it than the CD key faker, and it offers more challenges. The benefit of this approach is it doesn't compromise the original CD key that was used to aid in cracking it, though it still has remnants of hashes/keys needed to decrypt the program. The crack to get it to install was easy enough to come up with once you knew what it was doing. However, during testing, it was found that there were several other checks: in-game CD key checks, relocatable function offsets, and different security checks depending on something related to the machine. These have been addressed and work for the machines of those tested, but there's likely machines out there that trigger a different security checking routine than the two that were found. These won't be addressed by me and someone else can do it if they choose.

Feel free to disassemble the crack if you want; it makes no attempt to hide what it's doing. The crack is all in the DLL. The exe is just a loader for it. The crack just shows that it works and has lots of room for improvement. One improvement would be to launch the installer and hooking into that so you wouldn't need to do what you do now.

Credits to Blizzhackers..don't blame me if it doesn't work :D

Awesome. I am use to cracking all kinds of keycodes... but i have never seen something such as that before. Doesn't mean that it is a hard one... but I have no expirience with it. Thanks for your post primal, that should put my project ahead a bit.

The main reason that I wanted to use mousepad's map hack is because of it's anti-detection fetures. Mousepad claimed that it had some that no one had ever thought of before, and I wanted to expoilt them.

That's dishonorable. Besides which, there are many other ones out there. There is a fairly decent one that works for the newer version of d2hackit.

The guys who sell stuff for Diablo 2 are brilliant..
They're making a constant flow of cash from all the idiots who pay for it..heh.

Who the hell would pay for shit on a game..(ie. items,hacks...etc..)

I would have to agree that people who buy that stuff are stupid. That is also the reason why I saw that it is dishonorable.

It is only dishonorable if used in wrong ways. The drop hack for instance, can be used to remove scammers, theives, and flamers from games. It can also be used dishonorably to boot good people out of games that you didn't even make. It all depends on the person who is using it.
