I was wondering how to make a weapon do more damage do i just edit the item cfg, if so what can i change to increase the damage? Please Help!

I was wondering how can u choose the spells you want to have on your character. I can't seem to get gm-kill nor earth strike spell on my guy to choose. Someone help
